The GTAZ (Joint Counter-Terrorism Centre) set up in Berlin in late 2004 is not an autonomous authority but a joint co-operation and communication platform used by 40 internal security agencies.

[UK] National Counter Terrorism Security Office

UK

The National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) is a police unit. It is funded by, and reports to, the Home Office, which advises the British government on its counter terrorism strategy. It supports the protection the United Kingdom’s crowded spaces, hazardous and potentially vulnerable or at risk sites, as well as offering advice on a range of threats and dangerous substances.


[France] Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure

The DGSE is a state Service under the direct authority of the executive power and operates within a very strict legal and deontological framework.

The DGSE’s activities, defined by the Political Authorities, are exclusively tasked to protect French interests. Its activities particularly contribute to protecting French citizens anywhere in the world. For this particular mission, the DGSE closely works with all the national security services.

Its scope of action mainly takes place outside France’s borders, using clandestine research methods.
